Vaginismus

Vaginismus is a sexual intercourse problem that describes involuntary contractions of the vaginal muscles that causes inability to have sexual intercourse or being very painful.

As a result of some subconscious fears and false sexual information, the pelvic muscles in the outer 1/3 of the vaginal canal contract involuntarily (that is, out of the person's own control) as a result of the body's "self-protection mechanism". Thus, sexual intercourse becomes impossible.

Women with vaginismus problems describe contractions not only at the vaginal entrance, but also in many parts of the body such as the abdomen, waist, back and legs. For this reason, after couples try to have intercourse, people may feel widespread muscle pain in these areas. This situation is somewhat related to the degree of vaginismus.
